OCTOBER 30

PSALMS: 30, 60, 90, 120, 150

PROVERBS: 30

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 39:1 – 41:16

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:46 – 13:23

PSALMS: 30

1 I will extol you, LORD, for you have raised me up,
And have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 LORD my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.
3 LORD, you have brought up my soul from She’ol.
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing praise to the LORD, you holy ones of his.
Give thanks to his holy name.
5 For his anger is but for a moment;
His favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may stay for the night,
But joy comes in the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”
7 You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain to stand strong.
But when you hid your face, I was troubled.
8 I cried to you, LORD.
To the LORD I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit?
Shall the dust praise you?
Shall it declare your truth?
10 Hear, LORD, and have mercy on me. LORD, be my helper.”
11 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me.
You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent.
LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

PSALMS: 60

1 God, you have rejected us.
You have broken us down.
You have been angry.
Restore us to you, again.
2 You have made the land tremble.
You have torn it.
Mend its fractures,
For it quakes.
3 You have shown your people hard things.
You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.
4 You have given a banner to those who fear you,
That it may be displayed because of the truth.
Selah.
5 So that your beloved may be delivered,
Save with your right hand, and answer us.
6 God has spoken from his sanctuary:
“I will triumph.
I will divide Shekhem,
And measure out the valley of Sukkot.
7 Gil`ad is mine, and Menashsheh is mine.
Efrayim also is the defense of my head.
Yehudah is my scepter.
8 Mo’av is my wash basin.
I will throw my shoe on Edom.
I shout in triumph over Peleshet.”
9 Who will bring me into the strong city?
Who has led me to Edom?
10 Haven’t you, God, rejected us?
You don’t go out with our armies, God.
11 Give us help against the adversary,
For the help of man is vain.
12 Through God we shall do valiantly,
For it is he who will tread down our adversaries.

PSALMS: 90

1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place In all generations.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever you had formed the eretz and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
3 You turn man to destruction, saying,
“Return, you children of men.”
4 For a thousand years in your sight
Are but as yesterday when it is past,
As a watch in the night.
5 You sweep them away as they sleep.
In the morning they sprout like new grass.
6 In the morning it sprouts and springs up.
By evening, it is withered and dry.
7 For we are consumed in your anger.
We are troubled in your wrath.
8 You have set our iniquities before you,
Our secret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days have passed away in your wrath.
We bring our years to an end as a sigh.
10 The days of our years are seventy,
Or even by reason of strength eighty years;
Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow,
For it passes quickly, and we fly away.
11 Who knows the power of your anger,
Your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?
12 So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
13 Relent, LORD! How long?
Have compassion on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
For as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your work appear to your servants;
Your glory to their children.
17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us;
Establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.

PSALMS: 120

1 The LORD says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.”
2 The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Tziyon.
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,
In holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning,
you have the dew of your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind:
“You are a Kohen forever in the order of Malki-Tzedek.”
5 The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole eretz.
7 He will drink of the brook in the way;
Therefore will he lift up his head.

PSALMS: 150

1 Deliver me, LORD, from the evil man.
Preserve me from the violent man;
2 Those who devise mischief in their hearts.
They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
Viper’s poison is under their lips. Selah.
4 LORD, keep me from the hands of the wicked.
Preserve me from the violent men:
Who have determined to trip my feet.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,
They have spread the cords of a net by the path.
They have set traps for me. Selah.
6 I said to the LORD, “You are my God.”
Listen to the cry of my petitions, LORD.
7 LORD, the Lord, the strength of my yeshu`ah,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 LORD, don’t grant the desires of the wicked.
Don’t let their evil plans succeed,
or they will become proud.
Selah.
9 As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals fall on them.
Let them be thrown into the fire,
Into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 An evil speaker won’t be established in the eretz.
Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name.
The upright will dwell in your presence.

PROVERBS: 30

1 The words of Agur the son of Yakeh, the oracle:
The man says to ‘Iti’el, To ‘Iti’el and Ucal:
2 “Surely I am the most ignorant man,
And don’t have a man’s understanding.
3 I have not learned wisdom,
Neither do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.
4 Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended?
Who has gathered the wind in his fists?
Who has bound the waters in his garment?
Who has established all the ends of the eretz? ‘
What is his name, and what is his son’s name, if you know?
5 “Every word of God is flawless.
He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Don’t you add to his words,
Lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar.
7 “Two things I have asked of you;
Don’t deny me before I die:
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lies.
Give me neither poverty nor riches.
Feed me with the food that is needful for me;
9 Lest I be full, deny you, and say,
‘Who is the LORD?’
Or lest I be poor, and steal,
And so dishonor the name of my God.
10 “Don’t slander a servant to his master,
Lest he curse you, and you be held guilty.
11 There is a generation that curses their father,
And doesn’t bless their mother.
12 There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes,
Yet are not washed from their filthiness.
13 There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes!
Their eyelids are lifted up.
14 There is a generation whose teeth are like swords,
And their jaws like knives,
To devour the poor from the eretz,
and the needy from among men.
15 “The leach has two daughters:
‘Give, give.’
“There are three things that are never satisfied;
Four that don’t say, ‘Enough:’
16 She’ol, the barren womb;
The eretz that is not satisfied with water;
The fire that doesn’t say, ‘Enough;’
17 And the eye that mocks at his father,
And scorns obedience to his mother:
The ravens of the valley shall pick it out,
The young eagles shall eat it.
18 “There are three things which are too amazing for me,
Four which I don’t understand:
19 The way of an eagle in the air;
The way of a serpent on a rock;
The way of a ship in the midst of the sea;
And the way of a man with a maiden.
20 So is the way of an adulterous woman:
She eats and wipes her mouth,
And says, ‘I have done nothing wrong.’
21 “For three things the eretz tremble,
And under four, it can’t bear up:
22 For a servant when he is king;
A fool when he is filled with food;
23 For an unloved woman when she is married;
And a handmaid who is heir to her mistress.
24 “There are four things which are little on the eretz,
But they are exceeding wise:
25 The ants are not a strong people,
Yet they provide their food in the summer;
26 The conies are but a feeble folk,
Yet make they their houses in the rocks;
27 The locusts have no king,
Yet they advance in ranks;
28 You can catch a lizard with your hands,
Yet she is in kings’ palaces.
29 “There are three things which are stately in their march,
Four which are stately in going:
30 The lion, which is mightiest among animals,
And doesn’t turn away for any;
31 The greyhound, the male goat also;
And the king against whom there is no rising up.
32 “If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself,
Or if you have thought evil,
Put your hand over your mouth.
33 For as the churning of milk brings forth butter,
And the wringing of the nose brings forth blood;
So the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.”

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 39:1 – 41:16

39:1 Yosef was brought down to Mitzrayim. Potifar, an officer of Paroh's, the captain of the guard, a Mitzrian, bought him from the hand of the Yishmeelim that had brought him down there. 2 The LORD was with Yosef, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Mitzrian. 3 His master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did prosper in his hand. 4 Yosef found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. 5 It happened from the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Mitzrian’s house for Yosef’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had, in the house and in the field. 6 He left all that he had in Yosef’s hand. He didn’t concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Yosef was well-built and handsome. 7 It happened after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes on Yosef; and she said, “Lie with me.” 8 But he refused, and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, my master doesn’t know what is with me in the house, and he has put all that he has into my hand. 9 He isn’t greater in this house than I, neither has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” 10 It happened that as she spoke to Yosef day by day, that he didn’t listen to her, to lie by her, or to be with her. 11 It happened about this time, that he went into the house to do his work, and there were none of the men of the house inside. 12 She caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me!” He left his garment in her hand, and ran outside. 13 It happened, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and had run outside, 14 that she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, “Behold, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice. 15 It happened, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and ran outside.” 16 She laid up his garment by her, until his master came home. 17 She spoke to him according to these words, saying, “The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought to us, came in to me to mock me, 18 and it happened, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and ran outside.” 19 It happened, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, “This is what your servant did to me,” that his wrath was kindled. 20 Yosef’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound, and he was there in the custody. 21 But the LORD was with Yosef, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 The keeper of the prison committed to Yosef’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of the prison didn’t look after anything that was under his hand, because the LORD was with him; and that which he did, the LORD made it prosper.

40:1 It happened after these things, that the butler of the king of Mitzrayim and his baker offended their lord, the king of Mitzrayim. 2 Paroh was angry against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Yosef was bound.

4 The captain of the guard assigned them to Yosef, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.

5 They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Mitzrayim, who were bound in the prison.

6 Yosef came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and, saw that they were sad.

7 He asked Paroh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?” 8 They said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it.” Yosef said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me.”9 The chief butler told his dream to Yosef, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me, 10 and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters of it brought forth ripe grapes. 11 Paroh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Paroh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Paroh's hand."

12 Yosef said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days

13 Within three more days, Paroh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Paroh's cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his butler.

14 But remember me when it will be well with you, and show kindness, please, to me, and make mention of me to Paroh, and bring me out of this house. 15 For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.” 16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Yosef, “I also was in my dream, and, behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head. 17 In the uppermost basket there was of all kinds of baked food for Paroh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."18 Yosef answered, "This is the interpretation of it. The three baskets are three days. 19 Within three more days, Paroh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you.” 20 It happened the third day, which was Paroh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

21 He restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he gave the cup into Paroh’s hand; 22 but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosef had interpreted to them. 23 Yet the chief butler didn’t remember Yosef, but forgot him.

41:1 It happened at the end of two full years, that Paroh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. 2 Behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, well-favored and fat-fleshed, and they fed in the reed-grass.

3 Behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ill-favored and lean-fleshed, and stood by the other cattle on the brink of the river.

4 The ill-favored and lean-fleshed cattle ate up the seven well-favored and fat cattle. So Paroh awoke. 5 He slept and dreamed a second time: and, behold, seven ears of grain came up on one stalk, rank and good. 6 Behold, seven ears, thin and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. 7 The thin ears swallowed up the seven rank and full ears. Paroh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

8 It happened in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Mitzrayim, and all the wise men of it. Paroh told them his dream, but there was no one who could interpret them to Paroh.

9 hen the chief butler spoke to Paroh, saying, “I remember my faults today. 10 Paroh was angry with his servants, and put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, me and the chief baker.

11 We dreamed a dream in one night, I and he. We dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

12 There was with us there a young man, a Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard, and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams. To each man according to his dream he did interpret.

13 It happened, as he interpreted to us, so it was: me he restored to my office, and him he hanged."

14 Then Paroh sent and called Yosef, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothing, and came in to Paroh.

15 Paroh said to Yosef, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” 16 Yosef answered Paroh, saying, "It isn't in me: God will give Paroh an answer of shalom.”

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:46 – 13:23

12:46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. 47 One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.” 48 But he answered him who told him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 He stretched forth his hand towards his talmidim, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever will do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

13:1 On that day Yeshua went out of the house, and sat by the seaside. 2 Great multitudes gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat, and sat, and all the multitude stood on the beach. 3 He spoke to them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, a farmer went forth to sow. 4 As he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Others fell on rocky ground, where they didn’t have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of eretz. 6 When the sun had risen, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered away.
7  Others fell on thorns. The thorns grew up and choked them: 8 and others fell on good soil, and yielded fruit: some one hundred times, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 10 The talmidim came, and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” 11 He answered them, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them. 12 For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have abundance, but whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he has. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they don’t see, and hearing, they don’t hear, neither do they understand. 14 In them the prophecy of Yesha`yahu is fulfilled, which says, ‘By hearing you will hear, And will in no way understand; Seeing you will see, And will in no way perceive: 15 For this people’s heart has grown callous, Their ears are dull of hearing, Their eyes they have closed; Or else perhaps they might perceive with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their heart, And should turn again; And I would heal them.’ 16 “But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. 17 For most assuredly I tell you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them. 18 “Hear, then, the parable of the farmer. 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes, and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside. 20 What was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 What was sown on the good ground, this is he who hears the word, and understands it, who most assuredly bears fruit, and brings forth, some one hundred times, some sixty, some thirty.”

OCTOBER 29

PSALMS: 29, 59, 89, 119, 149

PROVERBS: 29

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 37:1 – 38:30

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:22 – 45

PSALMS: 29

1 Ascribe to the LORD, you sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name.
Worship the LORD in holy array.
3 The voice of LORD is on the waters.
The God of glory thunders, even the LORD on many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful.
The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars.
Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Levanon.
6 He makes them also to skip like a calf;
Levanon and Siryon like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness.
The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer calve,
And strips the forests bare.
In his temple everything says, “Glory!”
10 The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood.
Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.
11 The LORD will give strength to his people.
The LORD will bless his people with shalom.

PSALMS: 59

1 Deliver me from my enemies, my God.
Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity.
Save me from the bloodthirsty men.
3 For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul.
The mighty gather themselves together against me,
Not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, LORD.
4 I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me.
Rise up, behold, and help me!
5 You, LORD God Tzva’ot, the God of Yisra’el,
Rouse yourself to punish the nations.
Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah.
6 They return at evening, howling like dogs,
And prowl around the city.
7 Behold, they spew with their mouth.
Swords are in their lips,
“For,” they say, “who hears us?”
8 But you, LORD, laugh at them.
You scoff at all the nations.
9 Oh, my Strength, I watch for you,
For God is my high tower.
10 My God will go before me with his loving kindness.
God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.
11 Don’t kill them, or my people may forget.
Scatter them by your power, and bring them down,
Lord our shield.
12 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips,
Let them be caught in their pride,
For the curses and lies which they utter.
13 Consume them in wrath.
Consume them, and they will be no more.
Let them know that God rules in Ya`akov,
To the ends of the eretz.
Selah.
14 At evening let them return.
Let them howl like a dog, and go around the city.
15 They shall wander up and down for food,
And wait all night if they aren’t satisfied.
16 But I will sing of your strength.
Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning.
For you have been my high tower,
A refuge in the day of my distress.
17  To you, my strength, I will sing praises.
For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

PSALMS: 89

1 I will sing of the loving kindness of the LORD forever.
With my mouth, I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
2 I indeed declare, “Love stands firm forever.
You established the heavens.
Your faithfulness is in them.”
3 “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David, my servant,
4 ‘I will establish your seed forever,
And build up your throne to all generations.'”
Selah.
5 The heavens will praise your wonders, LORD;
Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD?
Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like the LORD,
7 A very awesome God in the council of the holy ones,
To be feared above all those who are around him?
8 LORD, God Tzva’ot, who is a mighty one, like you?
The LORD, your faithfulness is around you.
9 You rule the pride of the sea.
When its waves rise up, you calm them.
10 You have broken Rachav in pieces, like one of the slain.
You have scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 The heavens are yours, the eretz also is yours;
The world and its fullness.
You have founded them.
12 The north and the south, you have created them.
Tavor and Hermon rejoice in your name.
13 You have a mighty arm.
Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne.
Loving kindness and truth go before your face.
15 Blessed are the people who learn to acclaim you.
They walk in the light of your presence, LORD.
16 In your name do they rejoice all day.
In your righteousness, they are exalted.
17 For you are the glory of their strength.
In your favor, our horn will be exalted.
18 For our shield belongs to the LORD;
Our king to the Holy One of Yisra’el.
19 Then you spoke in vision to your holy ones,
And said, “I have bestowed strength on the warrior.
I have exalted a young man from the people.
20 I have found David, my servant.
I have anointed him with my holy oil,
21 With whom my hand shall be established.
My arm will also strengthen him.
22 No enemy will tax him.
No wicked man will oppress him.
23 I will beat down his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 But my faithfulness and my loving kindness will be with him.
In my name, his horn will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand also on the sea,
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 He will call to me, ‘You are my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation!’
27 I will also appoint him my firstborn,
The highest of the kings of the eretz.
28 I will keep my loving kindness for him forevermore.
My covenant will stand firm with him.
29 I will also make his seed endure forever,
And his throne as the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law,
And don’t walk in my ordinances;
31 If they break my statutes,
And don’t keep my mitzvot;
32 Then I will punish their sin with the rod,
And their iniquity with stripes.
33 But I will not completely take my loving kindness from him,
Nor allow my faithfulness to fail.
34 I will not break my covenant,
Nor alter what my lips have uttered.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness,
I will not lie to David.
36 His seed will endure forever,
His throne like the sun before me.
37 It will be established forever like the moon,
The faithful witness in the sky.”
Selah.
38 But you have rejected and spurned.
You have been angry with your anointed.
39 You have renounced the covenant of your servant.
You have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 You have broken down all his hedges.
You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
41 All who pass by the way rob him.
He has become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries.
You have made all of his enemies rejoice.
43 Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword,
And haven’t supported him in battle.
44 You have ended his splendor,
And thrown his throne down to the ground.
45 You have shortened the days of his youth.
You have covered him with shame.
Selah.
46 How long, LORD?
Will you hide yourself forever?
Will your wrath burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time is!
For what vanity have you created all the children of men!
48 What man is he who shall live and not see death,
Who shall deliver his soul from the power of She’ol?
Selah.
49 Lord, where are your former loving kindnesses,
Which you swore to David in your faithfulness?
50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants,
How I bear in my heart the taunts of all the mighty peoples,
51 With which your enemies have mocked, LORD,
With which they have mocked the footsteps of your anointed one.
52 Blessed be the LORD forevermore.
Amein, and Amein.

PSALMS: 119

1 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
Who walk according to the law of the LORD.
2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes,
Who seek him with their whole heart.
3 Yes, they do nothing wrong.
They walk in his ways.
4 You have commanded your precepts,
That we should fully obey them.
5 Oh that my ways were steadfast
To obey your statutes!
6 Then I wouldn’t be put to shame,
When I consider all of your mitzvot.
7  I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart,
When I learn your righteous judgments.
8 I will observe your statutes.
Don’t utterly forsake me.
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
10 With my whole heart, I have sought you.
Don’t let me wander from your mitzvot.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart,
That I might not sin against you.
12 Blessed are you, LORD.
Teach me your statutes.
13 With my lips, I have declared all the ordinances of your mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on your precepts,
And consider your ways.
16 I will delight myself in your statutes.
I will not forget your word.
17 Do good to your servant.
I will live and I will obey your word.
18 Open my eyes,
That I may see wondrous things out of your law.
19 I am a stranger on the eretz.
Don’t hide your mitzvot from me.
20 My soul is consumed with longing for your ordinances at all times.
21 You have rebuked the proud who are cursed,
Who wander from your mitzvot.
22 Take reproach and contempt away from me,
For I have kept your statutes.
23 Though princes sit and slander me,
Your servant will meditate on your statutes.
24 Indeed your statutes are my delight,
And my counselors.
25 My soul is laid low in the dust.
Revive me according to your word!
26 I declared my ways, and you answered me.
Teach me your statutes.
27  Let me understand the teaching of your precepts!
Then I will meditate on your wondrous works.
28 My soul is weary with sorrow.
Strengthen me according to your word.
29 Keep me from the way of deceit.
Grant me your law graciously!
30 I have chosen the way of truth.
I have set my heart on your law.
31 I cling to your statutes, LORD.
Don’t let me be put to shame.
32 I run in the path of your mitzvot,
For you have set my heart free.
33 Teach me, LORD, the way of your statutes.
I will keep them to the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I will keep your law.
Yes, I will obey it with my whole heart.
35 Direct me in the path of your mitzvot,
For I delight in them.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes,
Not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things.
Revive me in your ways.
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant,
That you may be feared.
39 Take away my disgrace that I dread,
For your ordinances are good.
40 Behold, I long for your precepts!
Revive me in your righteousness.
41 Let your loving kindness also come to me, LORD,
Your yeshuah, according to your word.

42 So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, For I trust in your word.

43 Don't snatch the word of truth out of my mouth, For I put my hope in your ordinances.

44 So I will obey your law continually, Forever and ever. 45 I will walk in liberty, For I have sought your precepts.

46 I will also speak of your statutes before kings, And will not be put to shame. 47 I will delight myself in your mitzvot, Because I love them.

48 I reach out my hands for your mitzvot, which I love. I will meditate on your statutes.

49 Remember your word to your servant, Because you gave me hope.

50 This is my comfort in my affliction, For your word has revived me.

51 The arrogant mock me excessively, But I don't swerve from your law.

52 I remember your ordinances of old, LORD, And have comforted myself.

53 Indignation has taken hold on me, Because of the wicked who forsake your law.

54 Your statutes have been my songs, In the house where I live.

55 have remembered your name, LORD, in the night, And I obey your law. 56 This is my way, That I keep your precepts.

57 The LORD is my portion. I promised to obey your words.

58 sought your favor with my whole heart. Be merciful to me according to your word.

59 I considered my ways, And turned my steps to your statutes.

60 I will hurry, and not delay, To obey your mitzvot.

61 The ropes of the wicked bind me, But I won't forget your law.

62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to you, Because of your righteous ordinances.

63 am a friend of all those who fear you, Of those who observe your precepts.

64 The eretz is full of your loving kindness, LORD. Teach me your statutes.

65 Do good to your servant, According to your word, LORD.

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, For I believe in your mitzvot.

67 Before I was afflicted, I went astray; But now I observe your word.

68 You are good, and do good. Teach me your statutes.

69 The proud have smeared a lie upon me. With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts.

70 Their heart is as callous as the fat, But I delight in your law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn your statutes.

72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. 73 Your hands have made me and formed me. Give me understanding, that I may learn your mitzvot.

74 Those who fear you will see me and be glad, Because I have put my hope in your word. 75 LORD, I know that your judgments are righteous, That in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

76 Please let your loving kindness be for my comfort, According to your word to your servant.

77 Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; For your law is my delight

78 Let the proud be put to shame, for they have overthrown me wrongfully. I will meditate on your precepts.

79 Let those who fear you turn to me. They will know your statutes.

80 Let my heart be blameless toward your decrees, That I may not be put to shame. 81 My soul faints for your salvation. I hope in your word.

82 My eyes fail for your word. I say, "When will you comfort me?"

83 For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke. I don't forget your statutes. 84 How many are the days of your servant? When will you execute judgment on those who persecute me?

85 The proud have dug pits for me, Contrary to your law.

86 All of your mitzvot are faithful. They persecute me wrongfully. Help me!

87 They had almost wiped me from the eretz, But I didn't forsake your precepts.

88 Preserve my life according to your loving kindness, So I will obey the statutes of your mouth.

89 LORD, your word is settled in heaven forever.

90 Your faithfulness is to all generations. You have established the eretz, and it remains.

91 Your laws remain to this day, For all things serve you.

92 Unless your law had been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

93 I will never forget your precepts, For with them, you have revived me.

94 I am yours. Save me, For I have sought your precepts.

95 The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me. I will consider your statutes.

96 I have seen a limit to all perfection, But your commands are boundless.

97 How love I your law! It is my meditation all day.

98 Your mitzvot make me wiser than my enemies, For your mitzvot are always with me.

99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For your testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understand more than the aged, Because I have kept your precepts.

101 I have kept my feet from every evil way, That I might observe your word.

102 I have not turned aside from your ordinances, For you have taught me.

103 How sweet are your promises to my taste, More than honey to my mouth!

104 Through your precepts, I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light for my path.

106 I have sworn, and have confirmed it, That I will obey your righteous ordinances.

107 I am afflicted very much. Revive me, LORD, according to your word

108 Accept, I beg you, the willing offerings of my mouth. LORD, teach me your ordinances.

100 My soul is continually in my hand, Yet I won't forget your law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I haven't gone astray from your precepts. 111 I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, For they are the joy of my heart.

112 I have set my heart to perform your statutes forever, Even to the end.

113 I hate double-minded men, But I love your law.

114 You are my hiding place and my shield. I hope in your word.

115 Depart from me, you evildoers, That I may keep the mitzvot of my God.

116 Uphold me according to your word, that I may live. Let me not be ashamed of my hope.

117 Hold me up, and I will be safe, And will have respect for your statutes continually.

118 You reject all those who stray from your statutes, For their deceit is in vain.

119 You put away all the wicked of the eretz like dross. Therefore I love your testimonies.

120 My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments.

121 I have done what is just and righteous. Don't leave me to my oppressors.

122 Ensure your servant's well-being. Don't let the proud oppress me.

123 My eyes fail watching for your yeshuah,
For your righteous word.
124 Deal with your servant according to your loving kindness.
Teach me your statutes.
125 I am your servant.
Give me understanding,
That I may know your testimonies.
126 It is time to act, LORD,
For they break your law.
127 Therefore I love your mitzvot more than gold,
Yes, more than pure gold.
128 Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right.
I hate every false way.
129 Your testimonies are wonderful,
Therefore my soul keeps them.
130 The entrance of your words gives light.
It gives understanding to the simple.
131 I opened my mouth wide and panted,
For I longed for your mitzvot.
132 Turn to me, and have mercy on me,
As you always do to those who love your name.
133 Establish my footsteps in your word.
Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Redeem me from the oppression of man,
So I will observe your precepts.
135 Make your face to shine on your servant.
Teach me your statutes.
136 Streams of tears run down my eyes,
Because they don’t observe your law.
137 You are righteous, LORD.
your judgments are upright.
138 You have commanded your statutes in righteousness.
They are fully trustworthy.
139 My zeal wears me out,
Because my enemies ignore your words.
140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested,
And your servant loves them.
141 I am small and despised.
I don’t forget your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness.
Your law is truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me.
Your mitzvot are my delight.
144 Your testimonies are righteous forever.
Give me understanding, that I may live.
145 I have called with my whole heart.
Answer me, LORD!
I will keep your statutes.
146 I have called to you. Save me!
I will obey your statutes.
147 I rise before dawn and cry for help.
I put my hope in your words.
148 My eyes stay open through the night watches,
That I might meditate on your word.
149 Hear my voice according to your loving kindness.
Revive me, LORD, according to your ordinances.
150 They draw near who follow after wickedness.
They are far from your law.
151 You are near, LORD.
All your mitzvot are truth.
152 Of old I have known from your testimonies,
That you have founded them forever.
153 Consider my affliction, and deliver me,
For I don’t forget your law.
154 Plead my cause, and redeem me!
Revive me according to your promise.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
For they don’t seek your statutes.
156 Great are your tender mercies, LORD.
Revive me according to your ordinances.
157 Many are my persecutors and my adversaries.
I haven’t swerved from your testimonies.
158 I look at the faithless with loathing,
Because they don’t observe your word.
159 Consider how I love your precepts.
Revive me, LORD, according to your loving kindness.
160 All of your words are truth.
Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.
161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause,
But my heart stands in awe of your words.
162 I rejoice at your word,
As one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and abhor falsehood.
I love your law.
164 Seven times a day, I praise you,
Because of your righteous ordinances.
165 Those who love your law have great shalom.
Nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I have hoped for your yeshuah, LORD. I have done your mitzvot.

167 My soul has observed your testimonies. I love them exceedingly.

168 I have obeyed your precepts and your testimonies, For all my ways are before you.

169 Let my cry come before you, LORD. Give me understanding according to your word.

170 Let my supplication come before you. Deliver me according to your word.

171 Let my lips utter praise, For you teach me your statutes.

172 Let my tongue sing of your word, For all your mitzvot are righteousness.

173 Let your hand be ready to help me, For I have chosen your precepts. 174 have longed for your yeshuah, LORD.
Your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live, that I may praise you.
Let your ordinances help me.
176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep.
Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your mitzvot.

PROVERBS: 29

1 He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck
Will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice;
But when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father;
But a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
4 The king by justice makes the land stable,
But he who takes bribes tears it down.
5 A man who flatters his neighbor,
Spreads a net for his feet.
6 An evil man is snared by his sin,
But the righteous can sing and be glad.
7 The righteous care about justice for the poor.
The wicked aren’t concerned about knowledge.
8 Mockers stir up a city,
But wise men turn away anger.
9 If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man,
The fool rages or scoffs, and there is no shalom.
10 The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity;
And they seek the life of the upright.
11 A fool vents all of his anger,
But a wise man brings himself under control.
12 If a ruler listens to lies,
All of his officials are wicked.
13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
The LORD gives sight to the eyes of both.
14 The king who fairly judges the poor,
His throne shall be established forever.
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom,
But a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
16 When the wicked increase, sin increases;
But the righteous will see their downfall.
17  Correct your son, and he will give you shalom;
Yes, he will bring delight to your soul.
18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But one who keeps the law is blessed.
19 A servant can’t be corrected by words.
Though he understands, yet he will not respond.
20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 He who pampers his servant from youth
Will have him become a son in the end.
22 An angry man stirs up strife,
And a wrathful man abounds in sin.
23 A man’s pride brings him low,
But one who is of a lowly spirit gains honor.
24 Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul.
He takes an oath, but dares not testify.
25 The fear of man proves to be a snare,
But whoever puts his trust in the LORD is kept safe.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favor,
But a man’s justice comes from the LORD.
27 A dishonest man detests the righteous,
And the upright in their ways detest the wicked.

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 37:1 – 38:30

37:1 Yaakov lived in the land of his father's travels, in the land of Kanaan. 2 This is the history of the generations of Yaakov. Yosef, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father's wives. Yosef brought an evil report of them to their father.

3 Now Yisra'el loved Yosef more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a coat of many colors.

4 His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him, and couldn't speak peaceably to him.

5 Yosef dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.

6 He said to them, "Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:

7 for, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf."

8 His brothers said to him, "Will you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us?" They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

9 He dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, "Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream: and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me."

10 He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, "What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to you to the eretz?"

11 His brothers envied him; but his father kept this saying in mind.

12 His brothers went to feed their father's flock in Shekhem.

13 Yisra'el said to Yosef, "Aren't your brothers feeding the flock in Shekhem? Come, and I will send you to them." He said to him, "Here I am." 14 He said to him, "Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again." So he sent him out of the valley of Hevron, and he came to Shekhem.

15 A certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, "What are you looking for?"

16 He said, "I am looking for my brothers. Tell me, please, where they are feeding the flock."

17 The man said, "They have left here, for I heard them say, 'Let us go to Dotan.'" Yosef went after his brothers, and found them in Dotan.

18 They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him.

19 They said one to another, "Behold, this dreamer comes.

20 Come now therefore, and let's kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, 'An evil animal has devoured him.' We will see what will become of his dreams."

21 Re'uven heard it, and delivered him out of their hand, and said, "Let's not take his life."

22 Re'uven said to them, "Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him" - that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.

23 t happened, when Yosef came to his brothers, that they stripped Yosef of his coat, the coat of many colors that was on him; 24 and they took him, and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty. There was no water in it

25 They sat down to eat bread, and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and saw a caravan of Yishmeelim was coming from Gilad, with their camels bearing spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Mitzrayim.

26 Yehudah said to his brothers, "What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood?

27 Come, and let's sell him to the Yishmeelim, and not let our hand be on him; for he is our brother, our flesh.” His brothers listened to him. 28 Midyanim who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Yosef out of the pit, and sold Yosef to the Yishmeelim for twenty pieces of silver. They brought Yosef into Mitzrayim.

29 Re'uven returned to the pit; and saw that Yosef wasn't in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

30 He returned to his brothers, and said, "The child is no more; and I, where will I go?"

31 hey took Yosef's coat, and killed a male goat, and dipped the coat in the blood. 32 They took the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father, and said, "We have found this. Examine it, now, whether it is your son's coat or not."

33 He recognized it, and said, "It is my son's coat. An evil animal has devoured him. Yosef is without doubt torn in pieces."

34 Yaakov tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned for his son many days. 35 All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to She’ol to my son mourning.” His father wept for him. 36 The Midyanim sold him into Mitzrayim to Potifar, an officer of Par`oh’s, the captain of the guard.

38:1 It happened at that time, that Yehudah went down from his brothers, and turned in to a certain Adullami, whose name was Hirah.

2 Yehudah saw there a daughter of a certain Kanaani whose name was Shua. He took her, and went in to her.

3 She conceived, and bore a son; and he named him Er. 4 She conceived again, and bore a son; and she named him Onan. 5 She yet again bore a son, and named him Shelach: and he was at Keziv, when she bore him. 6 Yehudah took a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

7 Er, Yehudah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD. The LORD killed him. 8 Yehudah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her, and raise up seed to your brother.” 9 Onan knew that the seed wouldn’t be his; and it happened, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest he should give seed to his brother. 10 The thing which he did was evil in the sight of the LORD, and he killed him also. 11 Then Yehudah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow in your father’s house, until Shelach, my son, is grown up;” for he said, “Lest he also die, like his brothers.” Tamar went and lived in her father’s house. 12 After many days, Shua's daughter, the wife of Yehudah, died. Yehudah was comforted, and went up to his sheep-shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullami. 13 It was told Tamar, saying, “Behold, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.” 14 She took off of her the garments of her widowhood, and covered herself with her veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gate of Enayim, which is by the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelach was grown up, and she wasn't given to him as a wife.

15 When Yehudah saw her, he thought that she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.

16 He turned to her by the way, and said, "Please come, let me come in to you:" for he didn't know that she was his daughter-in-law. She said, "What will you give me, that you may come in to me?"

17 He said, "I will send you a kid of the goats from the flock." She said, "Will you give me a pledge, until you send it?"

18 He said, "What pledge will I give you?" She said, "Your signet and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand." He gave them to her, and came in to her, and she conceived by him.

19 She arose, and went away, and put off her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

20 Yehudah sent the kid of the goats by the hand of his friend, the Adullami, to receive the pledge from the woman’s hand, but he didn’t find her. 21 Then he asked the men of her place, saying, “Where is the prostitute, that was at `Enayim by the road?” They said, “There has been no prostitute here.” 22 He returned to Yehudah, and said, “I haven’t found her; and also the men of the place said, ‘There has been no prostitute here.'” 23 Yehudah said, “Let her keep it, lest we be put to shame. Behold, I sent this kid, and you haven’t found her.” 24 It happened about three months later, that it was told Yehudah, saying, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has played the prostitute; and moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.” Yehudah said, “Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.” 25 When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “By the man, whose these are, I am with child.” She also said, “Please discern whose are these – the signet, and the cords, and the staff.” 26 Yehudah acknowledged them, and said, “She is more righteous than I, because I didn’t give her to Shelach, my son.” He knew her again no more. 27 It happened in the time of her travail, that behold, twins were in her womb. 28 It happened, when she travailed, that one put out a hand: and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, “This came out first.” 29 It happened, as he drew back his hand, that behold, his brother came out, and she said, “Why have you made a breach for yourself?” Therefore his name was called Peretz.
30 Afterward his brother came out, that had the scarlet thread on his hand, and his name was called Zerach.

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:22 – 45

12:22 Then there was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
23 All the multitudes were amazed, and said, “Can this be the son of David?”
24 But when the Perushim heard it, they said, “This man does not cast out demons, except by Baal-Zibbul, the prince of the demons."

25 Knowing their thoughts, Yeshua said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.

26 If Hasatan casts out Hasatan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

27 f I by Baal-Zibbul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come on you.
29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man, and plunder his goods, except he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house.
30 “He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters.
31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Ruach HaKodesh, it will not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come.
33 “Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
35 The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil things.
36 I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
38 Then certain of the Sofrim and Perushim answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will no sign be given it but the sign of Yonah, the prophet.
40 For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the eretz.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Yonah; and behold, someone greater than Yonah is here.
42 The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the eretz to hear the wisdom of Shlomo; and behold, someone greater than Shlomo is here.
43 But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and doesn’t find it.
44 Then he says, ‘I will return into my house whence I came out,’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
45 Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”

OCTOBER 28

PSALMS: 28, 58, 88, 118, 148

PROVERBS: 28

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 35:1 – 36:43

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:1 – 21

PSALMS: 28

1 To you, LORD, I call.
My rock, don’t be deaf to me;
Lest, if you are silent to me,
I would become like those who go down into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you,
When I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
3 Don’t draw me away with the wicked,
With the workers of iniquity who speak shalom with their neighbors,
But mischief is in their hearts.
4 Give them according to their work,
and according to the wickedness of their doings.
Give them according to the operation of their hands.
Bring back on them what they deserve.
5 Because they don’t regard the works of the LORD,
Nor the operation of his hands,
He will break them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be the LORD,
Because he has heard the voice of my petitions.
7  The LORD is my strength and my shield.
My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped.
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices.
With my song I will thank him.
8 The LORD is their strength.
He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.
9 Save your people, and bless your inheritance.
Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.

PSALMS: 58

1 Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones?
Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men?
2 No, in your heart you plot injustice.
You measure out the violence of your hands in the eretz.
3 The wicked go astray from the womb.
They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
4 Their poison is like the poison of a snake;
Like a deaf cobra that stops its ear,
5 Which doesn’t listen to the voice of charmers,
No matter how skillful the charmer may be.
6Break their teeth, God, in their mouth.
Break out the great teeth of the young lions, LORD.
7 Let them vanish as water that flows away.
When they draw the bow, let their arrows be made blunt.
8 Let them be as a snail which melts and passes away,
Like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun.
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns,
He will sweep away, the green and the burning alike.
10 The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance.
He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;
11 So that men shall say, “Most assuredly there is a reward for the righteous.
Most assuredly there is a God who judges the eretz.”

PSALMS: 88

1 LORD, the God of my salvation,
I have cried day and night before you.
2 Let my prayer enter into your presence.
Turn your ear to my cry.
3 For my soul is full of troubles.
My life draws near to She’ol.
4 I am counted among those who go down into the pit.
I am like a man who has no help,
5 Set apart among the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom you remember no more.
They are cut off from your hand.
6 You have laid me in the lowest pit,
In the darkest depths.
7  Your wrath lies heavily on me.
You have afflicted me with all your waves.
Selah.
8 You have taken my friends from me.
You have made me an abomination to them.
I am confined, and I can’t escape.
9 My eyes are dim from grief.
I have called on you daily, LORD.
I have spread out my hands to you.
10 Do you show wonders to the dead?
Do the dead rise up and praise you? Selah.
11 Is your loving kindness declared in the grave?
Or your faithfulness in Destruction?
12 Are your wonders made known in the dark?
Or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
13 But to you, LORD, I have cried.
In the morning, my prayer comes before you.
14 LORD, why do you reject my soul?
Why do you hide your face from me?
15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up.
While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted.
16 Your fierce wrath has gone over me.
Your terrors have cut me off.
17 They came around me like water all day long.
They completely engulfed me.
18 You have put lover and friend far from me,
And my friends into darkness.

PSALMS: 148

1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD from the heavens!
Praise him in the heights!
2 Praise him, all his angels!
Praise him, all his host!
3 Praise him, sun and moon!
Praise him, all you shining stars!
4 Praise him, you heavens of heavens,
You waters that are above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD, ‘
For he commanded, and they were created.
6 He has also established them forever and ever.
He has made a decree which will not pass away.
7 Praise the LORD from the eretz,
You great sea creatures, and all depths!
8 Lightning and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling his word;
9 Mountains and all hills;
Fruit trees and all cedars;
10 Wild animals and all cattle;
Small creatures and flying birds;
11 Kings of the eretz and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the eretz;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children:
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For his name alone is exalted.
His glory is above the eretz and the heavens.
14 He has lifted up the horn of his people,
The praise of all his holy ones;
Even of the children of Yisra’el, a people near to him.
Praise the LORD!

PROVERBS: 28

1 The wicked flee when no one pursues;
But the righteous are as bold as a lion.
2 In rebellion, a land has many rulers,
But order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.
3 A needy man who oppresses the poor
Is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.
4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked;
But those who keep the law contend with them.
5 Evil men don’t understand justice;
But those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
6 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity,
Than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.
7 Whoever keeps the law is a wise son;
But he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.
8 He who increases his wealth by excessive interest
Gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.
9 He who turns away his ear from hearing the law,
Even his prayer is an abomination.
10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way,
He will fall into his own trap;
But the blameless will inherit good.
11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes;
But the poor who has understanding sees through him.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory;
But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
13 He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper,
But whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
14 Blessed is the man who always fears;
But one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
15 As a roaring lion or a charging bear,
So is a wicked ruler over helpless people.
16 The ruler who lacks judgment is a great tyrant.
One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.
17 A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death;
No one will support him.
18 Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe;
But one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.
19 One who works his land will have an abundance of food;
But one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20 A faithful man is rich with blessings;
But one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
21 To show partiality is not good;
Yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
22 A stingy man hurries after riches,
And doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.
23 One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor
Than one who flatters with the tongue.
24 Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says,
“It’s not wrong.”
He is a partner with a destroyer.
25 One who is greedy stirs up strife;
But one who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26 One who trusts in himself is a fool;
But one who walks in wisdom, he is kept safe.
27 One who gives to the poor has no lack;
But one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves;
But when they perish, the righteous thrive.

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 35:1 – 36:43

35:1 God said to Yaakov, "Arise, go up to Beit-El, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esav your brother."

2 Then Yaakov said to his household, and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments. 3 Let us arise, and go up to Beit-El. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.” 4 They gave to Yaakov all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Yaakov hid them under the oak which was by Shekhem. 5 They journeyed: and a terror of God was on the cities that were round about them, and they didn’t pursue the sons of Yaakov.

6 So Yaakov came to Luz, which is in the land of Kanaan (the same is Beit-El), he and all the people who were with him.

7 He built an altar there, and called the place El-Beit-El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

8 Devorah, Rivka's nurse, died, and she was buried below Beit-El under the oak; and the name of it was called Allon-Bakhut.

9 God appeared to Yaakov again, when he came from Paddan-Aram, and blessed him. 10 God said to him, “Your name is Yaakov. Your name shall not be Yaakov any more, but your name will be Yisra’el.” He named him Yisra’el. 11 God said to him, “I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your loins. 12 The land which I gave to Avraham and Yitzchak, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land.” 13 God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him. 14 Yaakov set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink-offering on it, and poured oil on it.

15 Yaakov called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Beit-El.” 16 They journeyed from Beit-El. There was still some distance to come to Efrat, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor. 17 It happened that, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for now you will have another son.” 18 It happened, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni, but his father named him Binyamin. 19 Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Efrat (the same is Beit-Lechem). 20 Yaakov set up a pillar on her grave. The same is the Pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.

21 bYisra'el journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Eder. 22 It happened, while Yisra’el lived in that land, that Re’uven went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, and Yisra’el heard of it. Now the sons of Yaakov were twelve.

23 The sons of Le'ah: Re'uven (Yaakov’s firstborn), Shimon, Levi, Yehudah, Yissakhar, and Zevulun

24 The sons of Rachel: Yosef and Binyamin.

25 The sons of Bilhah (Rachel's handmaid): Dan and Naftali.

26 The sons of Zilpah (Le'ah's handmaid): Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Yaakov, who were born to him in Paddan-Aram. 27 Yaakov came to Yitzchak his father, to Mamre, to Kiryat-Arba (the same is Hevron), where Avraham and Yitzchak sojourned. 28 The days of Yitzchak were one hundred eighty years.

29 Yitzchak gave up the spirit, and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esav and Yaakov, his sons, buried him.

36:1 Now this is the history of the generations of Esav (the same is Edom). 2 Esav took his wives from the daughters of Kanaan:Adah the daughter of Elon, the Hittite; and Oholivamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tzivon, the Hivvi; 3 and Basemat, Yishma’el’s daughter, sister of Nevayot.  4 Adah bore to Esav Elifaz. Basemat bore Reu’el. 5 Oholivamah bore Yeush, Yalam, and Korach. These are the sons of Esav, who were born to him in the land of Kanaan.

6 Esav took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his cattle, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Kanaan, and went into a land away from his brother Yaakov.

7 For their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn't bear them because of their cattle.

8 Esav lived in the hill country of Seir. Esav is Edom. 9 This is the history of the generations of Esav the father of the Edom in the hill country of Seir:

10 these are the names of Esav's sons: Elifaz, the son of Adah, the wife of Esav; and Reu'el, the son of Basemat, the wife of Esav.

11 The sons of Elifaz were Teman, Omar, Tzefo, and Gatam, and Kenaz. 12 Timna was concubine to Elifaz, Esav’s son; and she bore to Elifaz Amalek. These are the sons of Adah, Esav’s wife. 13 These are the sons of Reu'el: Nachat, Zerach, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemat, Esav's wife.

14 These were the sons of Oholivamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Tzivon, Esav's wife: she bore to Esav Yeush, Yalam, and Korach.

15 These are the chiefs of the sons of Esav: the sons of Elifaz the firstborn of Esav: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Tzefo, chief Kenaz,

16 chief Korach, chief Gatam, chief Amalek: these are the chiefs who came of Elifaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah. 17 These are the sons of Reu'el, Esav's son: chief Nachat, chief Zerach, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah: these are the chiefs who came of Reu’el in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemat, Esav’s wife. 18 These are the sons of Oholivamah, Esav’s wife: chief Yeush, chief Yalam, chief Korach: these are the chiefs who came of Oholivamah the daughter of Anah, Esav's wife. 19 These are the sons of Esav, and these are their chiefs. The same is Edom.

20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shoval, Tzivon,Anah, 21 Dishon, Etzer, and Dishan. These are the chiefs who came of the Hori, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 The children of Lotan were Hori and Heman. Lotan's sister was Timna.

23 These are the children of Shoval: Alvan, Manachat,Eval, Shefo, and Onam. 24 These are the children of Tzivon: Ayah and Anah. This is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the donkeys of Tzivon his father. 25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholivamah, the daughter of Anah. 26 These are the children of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Yitran, and Keran. 27  These are the children of Etzer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. 28 These are the children of Dishan: Utz and Aran.

29 These are the chiefs who came of the Hori: chief Lotan, chief Shoval, chief Tzivon, chief Anah,

30 chief Dishon, chief Etzer, and chief Dishan: these are the chiefs who came of the Hori, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir. 31 These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the children of Yisra’el. 32 Bela, the son of Be’or, reigned in Edom. The name of his city was Dinhava. 33 Bela died, and Yovav, the son of Zerach of Botzrah, reigned in his place. 34 Yovav died, and Husham of the land of the Temani reigned in his place. 35 Husham died, and Hadad, the son of Bedad, who struck Midyan in the field of Mo’av, reigned in his place. The name of his city was Avit.

36 Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place. 37 Samlah died, and Sha'ul of Rechovot by the river, reigned in his place.

38 Sha'ul died, and Baal-Hanan, the son of Akhbor reigned in his place.

39 Baal-Hanan the son of Akhbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place. The name of his city was Pau. His wife's name was Mehetav'el, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahav.

40 These are the names of the chiefs who came from Esav, according to their families, after their places, and by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Yetet, 41 chief Oholivamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, 42 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mivtzar, 43 chief Magdi’el, and chief `Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esav, the father of the Edom.

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 12:1 – 21

12:1 At that time, Yeshua went on the day of Shabbat through the grain fields. His talmidim were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
2 But the Perushim, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your talmidim do what is not lawful to do on the Shabbat.”
3 But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;
4 how he entered into the house of God, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the Kohanim?
5 Or have you not read in the law, that on the day of Shabbat, the Kohanim in the temple profane the Shabbat, and are guiltless?
6 But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Shabbat.”
9 He departed there, and went into their synagogue.
10 And behold there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the day of Shabbat?” that they might accuse him.
11 He said to them, “What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the day of Shabbat, won’t he grab on to it, and lift it out?
12 How much, then, is a man of more value than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the day of Shabbat.”
13 Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
14 But the Perushim went out, and took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.
15 Yeshua, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all,
16 and charged them that they should not make him known:
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Yesha`yahu the prophet, saying,
18 “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit on him. He will declare judgment to the Goyim.
19 He will not strive, nor shout; Neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
20 He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a smoking flax, Until he sends forth judgment to victory.
21 In his name, the Goyim will hope.”

OCTOBER 27

PSALMS: 27, 57, 87, 117, 147

PROVERBS: 27

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 32:13 – 34:31

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 11:7 – 30

Psalms 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation.
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life.
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evil-doers came at me to eat up my flesh,
Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host should encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear.
Though war should rise against me,
Even then I will be confident.
4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after,
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To see the beauty of the LORD,
And to inquire in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion.
In the covert of his tent will he hide me.
He will lift me up on a rock.
6 Now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies around me.
I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tent.
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
7 Hear, LORD, when I cry with my voice.
Have mercy also on me, and answer me.
8 When you said, “Seek my face,”
My heart said to you,
“I will seek your face, LORD.”
9 Don’t hide your face from me.
Don’t put your servant away in anger.
You have been my help.
Don’t abandon me, neither forsake me,
God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the LORD will take me up.
11 Teach me your way, LORD.
Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies.
12 Don’t deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries,
For false witnesses have risen up against me,
Such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I am still confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage.
Yes, wait for the LORD.

PSALMS: 57

1 Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me,
For my soul takes refuge in you.
Yes, in the shadow of your wings,
I will take refuge,
Until disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to El `Elyon,
To God who accomplishes my requests for me.
3 He will send from heaven, and save me,
He rebukes the one who is pursuing me.
Selah.
God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.
4 My soul is among lions.
I lie among those who are set on fire,
Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows,
And their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be above all the eretz!
6 They have prepared a net for my steps.
My soul is bowed down.
They dig a pit before me.
They fall into the midst of it themselves.
Selah.
7 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast.
I will sing, yes,
I will sing praises.
8 Wake up, my glory!
Wake up, psaltery and harp!
I will wake up the dawn.
9 I will give thanks to you, Lord, among the peoples.
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your great loving kindness reaches to the heavens,
And your truth to the skies.
11 Be exalted, God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the eretz.

PSALMS: 87

1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The LORD loves the gates of Tziyon More than all the dwellings of Ya`akov.
3 Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God.
Selah.
4 I will record Rachav and Bavel among those who acknowledge me.
Behold, Peleshet, Tzor, and also Kush:
“This one was born there.”
5 Yes, of Tziyon it will be said,
“This one and that one was born in her;”
The Elyon himself will establish her.
6 The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples,
“This one was born there.”
Selah.
7 Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “
All my springs are in you.”

PSALMS: 117

1 Praise the LORD, all you nations!
Extol him, all you peoples!
2 For his loving kindness is great toward us.
The LORD’s faithfulness endures forever.
Praise the LORD!

PSALMS: 147

1 Praise the LORD,
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant and fitting to praise him.
2 The LORD builds up Yerushalayim.
He gathers together the outcasts of Yisra’el.
3 He heals the broken in heart,
And binds up their wounds.
4 He counts the number of the stars.
He calls them all by their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power.
His understanding is infinite.
6 The LORD upholds the humble.
He brings the wicked down to the ground.
7  Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving.
Sing praises on the harp to our God,
8 Who covers the sky with clouds,
Who prepares rain for the eretz,
Who makes grass grow on the mountains.
9 He provides food for the cattle,
And for the young ravens when they call.
10 He doesn’t delight in the strength of the horse.
He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him,
In those who hope in his loving kindness.
12 Praise the LORD, Yerushalayim!
Praise your God, Tziyon!
13 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates.
He has blessed your children within you.
14He makes shalom in your borders.
He fills you with the finest of the wheat.
15 He sends out his mitzvah on eretz.
His word runs very swiftly.
16 He gives snow like wool,
And scatters frost like ashes.
17  He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can stand before his cold?
18 He sends out his word, and melts them.
He causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 He shows his word to Ya`akov;
His statutes and his ordinances to Yisra’el.
20 He has not done this for any nation;
They don’t know his ordinances.
Praise the LORD!

PROVERBS: 27

1 Don’t boast about tomorrow;
For you don’t know what a day may bring forth.
2 Let another man praise you,
And not your own mouth;
A stranger, and not your own lips.
3 A stone is heavy, And sand is a burden;
But a fool’s provocation is heavier than both.
4 Wrath is cruel,
And anger is overwhelming;
But who is able to stand before jealousy?
5 Better is open rebuke Than hidden love.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend;
Although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
7 A full soul loathes a honeycomb;
But to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.
8 As a bird that wanders from her nest,
So is a man who wanders from his home.
9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart;
So does earnest counsel from a man’s friend.
10 Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend.
Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster:
Better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.
11 Be wise, my son,
And bring joy to my heart,
Then I can answer my tormentor.
12 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge;
But the simple pass on, and suffer for it:
13 Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger;
Hold it for a wayward woman!
14 He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning,
It will be taken as a curse by him.
15 A continual dropping on a rainy day
And a contentious wife are alike:
16 Restraining her is like restraining the wind,
Or like grasping oil in his right hand.
17 Iron sharpens iron;
So a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.
18 Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit.
He who looks after his master shall be honored.
19 As water reflects a face,
So a man’s heart reflects the man.
20 She’ol and Avaddon are never satisfied;
And a man’s eyes are never satisfied.
21 The crucible is for silver,
And the furnace for gold;
But man is refined by his praise.
22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain,
Yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.
23 Know well the state of your flocks,
And pay attention to your herds:
24 For riches are not forever,
Nor does even the crown endure to all generations.
25 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears,
The grasses of the hills are gathered in.
26 The lambs are for your clothing,
And the goats are the price of a field.
27 There will be plenty of goats’ milk for your food,
For your family’s food,
And for the nourishment of your servant girls.

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 32:13 – 34:31

32:13 He lodged there that night, and took from that which he had with him, a present for Esav, his brother: 14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, 15 thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty she-donkeys and ten foals. 16 He delivered them into the hands of his servants, every herd by itself, and said to his servants, “Pass over before me, and put a space between herd and herd.”17 He commanded the foremost, saying, “When Esav, my brother, meets you, and asks you, saying, ‘Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these before you?’ 18 Then you shall say, ‘They are your servant, Yaakov's. It is a present sent to my lord, Esav. Behold, he also is behind us.'"

9 He commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, "This is how you shall speak to Esav, when you find him.

20 You shall say, 'Not only that, but behold, your servant, Yaakov, is behind us.'” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.” 21 So the present passed over before him: and he himself lodged that night in the camp. 22 He rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford of the Yabbok. 23 He took them, and sent them over the stream, and sent over that which he had. 24 Yaakov was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day.

25 When he saw that he didn't prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Yaakov’s thigh was strained, as he wrestled. 26 The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Yaakov said, "I won't let you go, unless you bless me."

27He said to him, "What is your name?" He said, "Yaakov.” 28 He said, “Your name will no longer be called ‘Yaakov,' but, 'Yisra'el,' for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed."

29 Yaakov asked him, “Please tell me your name.” He said, “Why is it that you ask what my name is?” He blessed him there. 30Yaakov called the name of the place Peni'el: for, he said, "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."

31 The sun rose on him as he passed over Peni'el, and he limped because of his thigh.

32 Therefore the children of Yisra'el don't eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day, because he touched the hollow of Yaakov’s thigh in the sinew of the hip.

33:1 Yaakov lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esav was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Le'ah, Rachel, and to the two handmaids.

2 He put the handmaids and their children in front, Le'ah and her children after, and Rachel and Yosef at the rear.

He himself passed over in front of them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

4 Esav ran to meet him, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept.

5 He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, "Who are these with you?" He said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."

6 Then the handmaids came near with their children, and they bowed themselves.

7 Le'ah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves. After them, Yosef came near with Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

8 Esav said, "What do you mean by all this company which I met?" Yaakov said, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.” 9 Esav said, “I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours.” 10 Yaakov said, "Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

11 Please take the gift that I brought to you; because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." He urged him, and he took it.

12 Esav said, "Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before you."

13 Yaakov said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die. 14 Please let my lord pass over before his servant: and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the cattle that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir."

15 Esav said, "Let me now leave with you some of the folk who are with me." He said, "Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord."16 So Esav returned that day on his way to Seir. 17 Yaakov journeyed to Sukkot, built himself a house, and made shelters for his cattle. Therefore the name of the place is called Sukkot.

18 Yaakov came in shalom to the city of Shekhem, which is in the land of Kana`an, when he came from Paddan-Aram; and encamped before the city. 19 He bought the parcel of ground, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shekhem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money. 20 He erected an altar there, and called it El-Elohe-Yisra’el.

34:1 Dinah, the daughter of Le’ah, whom she bore to Yaakov, went out to see the daughters of the land.2 Shekhem the son of Hamor the Hivvi, the prince of the land, saw her. He took her, lay with her, and humbled her.

3 His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Yaakov, and he loved the young lady, and spoke kindly to the young lady. 4 Shekhem spoke to his father, Hamor, saying, “Get me this young lady as a wife.” 5 Now Yaakov heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the field. Yaakov held his shalom until they came. 6 Hamor the father of Shekhem went out to Yaakov to talk with him.

7 The sons of Yaakov came in from the field when they heard it. The men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had done folly in Yisra’el in lying with Yaakov's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

8 Hamor talked with them, saying, "The soul of my son, Shekhem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.

9 Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.

10 You shall dwell with us: and the land will be before you. Live and trade in it, and get possessions in it."

11 Shekhem said to her father and to her brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you will tell me I will give.

12 Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife."13 The sons of Yaakov answered Shekhem and Hamor his father with deceit, and spoke, because he had defiled Dinah their sister, 14 and said to them, “We can’t do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us. 15 Only on this condition will we consent to you. If you will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised; 16 then will we give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if you will not listen to us, to be circumcised, then we will take our sister, and we will be gone. 18 Their words pleased Hamor, and Shekhem, Hamor’s son. 19 The young man didn’t wait to do this thing, because he had delight in Yaakov's daughter, and he was honored above all the house of his father.

20 Hamor and Shekhem, his son, came to the gate of their city, and talked with the men of their city, saying,

21 "These men are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the land and trade in it. For, behold, the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.

22 Only on this condition will the men consent to us to dwell with us, to become one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.

23 Won't their cattle and their substance and all their animals be ours? Only let us give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us."

24 All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor, and to Shekhem his son; and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.

25 It happened on the third day, when they were sore, that two of Yaakov’s sons, Shimon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword, came upon the unsuspecting city, and killed all the males.

26 They killed Hamor and Shekhem, his son, with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shekhem's house, and went away.

27 Yaakov’s sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their flocks, their herds, their donkeys, that which was in the city, that which was in the field; 29 and all their wealth. They took captive all their little ones and their wives, and took as plunder everything that was in the house. 30 Yaakov said to Shimon and Levi, “You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Kana`anim and the Perizzi. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.” 31 They said, “Should he deal with our sister as with a prostitute?”

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 11:7 – 30

11:7 As these went their way, Yeshua began to say to the multitudes concerning Yochanan, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
8 But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in king’s houses.
9 But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
11 Most assuredly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than Yochanan the immerser; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.
12 From the days of Yochanan the immerser until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until Yochanan.
14 If you are willing to receive it, this is Eliyah, who is to come.
15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
16 “But what will I compare this generation to? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions
17 and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’
18 For Yochanan came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
20 Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works were done, because they didn’t repent.
21 “Woe to you, Kora’zin! Woe to you, Beit-Tzaidah! For if the mighty works had been done in Tzor and Tzidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tzor and Tzidon in the day of judgment than for you.
23 You, Kafar-Nachum, who are exalted to Heaven, you will go down to She’ol. For if the mighty works had been done in Sedom which were done in you, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sedom, in the day of judgment, than for you.”
25 At that time, Yeshua answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and eretz, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.
26 Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.
27 All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son wants to reveal him.
28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke on you, and learn from me, for I am humble and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

OCTOBER 26

PSALMS: 26, 56, 86, 116, 146

PROVERBS: 26

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 31:17 – 32:12

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 10:24 – 11:6

PSALMS: 26

1 Judge me, LORD, for I have walked in my integrity.
I have trusted also in LORD without wavering.
2 Examine me, LORD, and prove me.
Try my heart and my mind.
3 For your loving kindness is before my eyes.
I have walked in your truth.
4 I have not sat with deceitful men,
Neither will I go in with hypocrites.
5 I hate the assembly of evil-doers,
And will not sit with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence,
So I will go about your altar, LORD;
7 That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard,
And tell of all your wondrous works.
8 LORD, I love the habitation of your house,
The place where your glory dwells.
9 Don’t gather my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with bloodthirsty men;
10 In whose hands is wickedness,
Their right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity.
Redeem me, and be merciful to me.
12 My foot stands in an even place.
In the congregations will I bless the LORD.

PSALMS: 56

1 Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up.
All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
2 My enemies want to swallow me up all day long,
For they are many who fight proudly against me.
3 When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
4 In God, I praise his word. In God,
I put my trust. I will not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
5 All day long they twist my words.
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They conspire and lurk,
Watching my steps, they are eager to take my life.
7 Shall they escape by iniquity? I
n anger cast down the peoples, God.
8 You number my wanderings.
You put my tears into your bottle.
Aren’t they in your book?
9 Then shall my enemies turn back in the day that I call.
I know this, that God is for me.
10 In God, I will praise his word. In the LORD,
I will praise his word.
11 I have put my trust in God.
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
12 Your vows are on me, God.
I will give thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered my soul from death,
And prevented my feet from falling,
That I may walk before God in the light of the living.

PSALMS: 86

1 Hear, LORD, and answer me,
For I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly.
You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.
3 Be merciful to me, Lord,
For I call to you all day long.
4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant,
For to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive;
Abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
6 Hear, LORD, my prayer.
Listen to the voice of my petitions.
7  In the day of my trouble I will call on you,
For you will answer me.
8 There is no one like you among the gods, Lord,
Nor any deeds like your deeds.
9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord.
They shall glorify your name.
10 For you are great, and do wondrous things.
You are God alone.
11 Teach me your way, LORD.
I will walk in your truth.
Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart.
I will glorify your name forevermore.
13 For your loving kindness is great toward me.
You have delivered my soul from the lowest She’ol.
14 God, the proud have risen up against me.
A company of violent men have sought after my soul,
And they don’t hold regard for you before them.
15 But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God,
Slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me!
Give your strength to your servant.
Save the son of your handmaid.
17  Show me a sign of your goodness,
That those who hate me may see it, and be put to shame,
Because you, LORD, have helped me, and comforted me.

PSALMS: 116

1 I love the LORD, because he listens to my voice,
And my cries for mercy.
2 Because he has turned his ear to me,
Therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The cords of death surrounded me,
The pains of She’ol got a hold on me.
I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then called I on the name of the LORD:
“The LORD, I beg you, deliver my soul.”
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
6 The LORD preserves the simple.
I was brought low, and he saved me.
7 Return to your rest, my soul,
For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 I believed, therefore I said,
“I was greatly afflicted.”
11 I said in my haste,
“All men are liars.”
12 What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation,
and call on the name of the LORD.
14 I will pay my vows to the LORD,
Yes, in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his holy ones.
16 LORD, truly I am your servant.
I am your servant, the son of your handmaid.
You have freed me from my chains.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call on the name of the LORD.
18 I will pay my vows to the LORD,
Yes, in the presence of all his people,
19 In the courts of the LORD’s house,
In the midst of you, Yerushalayim.
Praise the LORD!

PSALMS: 146

1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, my soul.
2 While I live, I will praise the LORD.
I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
3 Don’t put your trust in princes,
Each a son of man in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, and he returns to the eretz.
In that very day, his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Ya`akov for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD, his God:
6 Who made heaven and eretz,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever;
7 Who executes justice for the oppressed;
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD frees the prisoners.
8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD raises up those who are bowed down.
The LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD preserves the sojourners.
He upholds the fatherless and widow,
But the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
10 The LORD will reign forever;
Your God, O Tziyon, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

PROVERBS: 26

1 Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest,
So honor is not fitting for a fool.
2 Like a fluttering sparrow,
Like a darting swallow,
So the undeserved curse doesn’t come to rest.
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey,
And a rod for the back of fools!
4 Don’t answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest you also be like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
6 One who sends a message by the hand of a fool
Is cutting off feet and drinking violence.
7 Like the legs of the lame that hang loose:
So is a parable in the mouth of fools.
8 As one who binds a stone in a sling,
So is he who gives honor to a fool.
9 Like a thornbush that goes into the hand of a drunkard,
So is a parable in the mouth of fools.
10 As an archer who wounds all,
So is he who hires a fool
Or he who hires those who pass by.
11 As a dog that returns to his vomit,
So is a fool who repeats his folly.
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
13 The sluggard says,
“There is a lion in the road!
A fierce lion roams the streets!”
14 As the door turns on its hinges,
So does the sluggard on his bed.
15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish.
He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
Than seven men who answer with discretion.
17 Like one who seizes a dog’s ears
Is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own.
18 Like a madman who shoots firebrands, arrows, and death,
19 Is the man who deceives his neighbor and says,
“Am I not joking?”
20 For lack of wood the fire goes out;
Where there is no gossip, a quarrel dies down.
21 As coals are to hot embers, And wood to fire,
So is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels,
They go down into the innermost parts.
23 Like silver dross on an earthen vessel
Are the lips of a fervent one with an evil heart.
24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips,
But he harbors evil in his heart.
25 When his speech is charming, don’t believe him;
For there are seven abominations in his heart:
26 His malice may be concealed by deception,
But his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. ‘
Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.
28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts;
And a flattering mouth works ruin.

OLD TESTAMENT: GENESIS 31:17 – 32:12

31:17  Then Yaakov rose up, and set his sons and his wives on the camels,

18 and he carried away all his cattle, and all his substance which he had gathered, the cattle of his getting, which he had gathered in Paddan-Aram, to go to Yitzchak his father to the land of Kanaan. 19 Now Lavan had gone to shear his sheep: and Rachel stole the terafim that were her father’s. 20 Yaakov deceived Lavan the Arammian, in that he didn't tell him that he was running away. 21 So he fled with all that he had. He rose up, passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilad. 22 Lavan was told on the third day that Yaakov had fled.

23 He took his relatives with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilad. 24 God came to Lavan, the Arammian, in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Take heed to yourself that you don’t speak to Yaakov either good or bad."

25 Lavan caught up with Yaakov. Now Yaakov had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Lavan with his relatives encamped in the mountain of Gilad. 26 Lavan said to Yaakov, "What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?

27 Why did you flee secretly, and deceive me, and didn't tell me, that I might have sent you away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp;

28 and didn't allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now have you done foolishly.

29 t is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, 'Take heed to yourself that you don't speak to Yaakov either good or bad.’ 30 Now, you want to be gone, because you sore longed after your father’s house, but why have you stolen my gods?” 31 Yaakov answered Lavan, "Because I was afraid, for I said, 'Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.'

32 With whoever you find your gods, he shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it." For Yaakov didn’t know that Rachel had stolen them. 33 Lavan went into Yaakov's tent, into Le'ah's tent, and into the tent of the two maid-servants; but he didn't find them. He went out of Le'ah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

34 Now Rachel had taken the terafim, put them in the camel's saddle, and sat on them. Lavan felt about all the tent, but didn't find them.

35 She said to her father, "Don't let my lord be angry that I can't rise up before you; for the manner of women is on me." He searched, but didn't find the terafim.

36 Yaakov was angry, and argued with Lavan. Yaakov answered Lavan, "What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have hotly pursued after me?

37 Now that you have felt around in all my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my relatives and your relatives, that they may judge between us two. 38 These twenty years have I been with you. Your ewes and your female goats have not cast their young, and I haven't eaten the rams of your flocks. 39 That which was torn of animals, I didn't bring to you. I bore the loss of it. Of my hand you required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from my eyes. 41 These twenty years have I been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.

42 Unless the God of my father, the God of Avraham, and the fear of Yitzchak, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night."

43 Lavan answered Yaakov, “The daughters are my daughters, the children are my children, the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine: and what can I do this day to these my daughters, or to their children whom they have borne? 44 Now come, let us make a covenant, you and I; and let it be for a witness between me and you.” 45 Yaakov took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

46 Yaakov said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” They took stones, and made a heap. They ate there by the heap. 47 Lavan called it Yegar-Sahaduta, but Yaakov called it Galed. 48 Lavan said, “This heap is witness between me and you this day.” Therefore it was named Galed

49 and Mitzpah, for he said, "The LORD watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.

50 f you will afflict my daughters, and if you will take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us; behold, God is witness between me and you." 51 Lavan said to Yaakov, “See this heap, and see the pillar, which I have set between me and you. 52 May this heap be a witness, and the pillar be a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm. 53 The God of Avraham, and the God of Nachor, the God of their father, judge between us.” Then Yaakov swore by the fear of his father, Yitzchak.

4 Yaakov offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his relatives to eat bread. They ate bread, and stayed all night in the mountain. 55 Early in the morning, Lavan rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. Lavan departed and returned to his place.

32:1 Yaakov went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

2 When he saw them, Yaakov said, “This is God’s host.” He called the name of that place Machanayim. 3 Yaakov sent messengers in front of him to Esav, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom. 4 He commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall tell my lord, Esav: ‘This is what your servant, Yaakov, says. I have sojourned with Lavan, and stayed until now. 5 I have oxen, donkeys, flocks, men-servants, and maid-servants. I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.'"

The messengers returned to Yaakov, saying, “We came to your brother Esav. Not only that, but he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him.” 7  Then Yaakov was greatly afraid and was distressed: and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;

8 and he said, "If Esav comes to the one company, and strikes it, then the company which is left will escape."

9 Yaakov said, “God of my father Avraham, and God of my father Yitzchak, the LORD, who said to me, ‘Return to your country, and to your relatives, and I will do you good.’ 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the lovingkindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Yarden; and now I have become two companies. 11 Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esav: for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, and the mothers with the children. 12 You said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which can’t be numbered because there are so many.'”

NEW TESTAMENT: MATTHEW 10:24 – 11:6

10:24 “A talmid is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the talmid that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Ba`al-Zibbul, how much more those of his household!
26 Therefore don’t be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed; and hidden that will not be known. 27  What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops. 28 Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehinnom. 29 “Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, 30 but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven. 34 “Don’t think that I came to send shalom on the eretz. I didn’t come to send shalom, but a sword. 35 For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 A man’s foes will be those of his own household. 37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me. 38 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it. 40 He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me. 41 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward: and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a talmid, most assuredly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”

11:1 It happened that when Yeshua had finished directing his twelve talmidim, he departed there to teach and preach in their cities. 2 Now when Yochanan heard in the prison the works of Messiah, he sent two of his talmidim 3 and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”4 Yeshua answered them, “Go and tell Yochanan the things which you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have goo
